HOUSTON, TX - The oil and gas industry will soon face one of the biggest hiring challenges in her 150 year history. Recruitment Manager, Jim Deckland, at The Virtual Bench said, "We will now face the perfect hiring storm: Baby boomers retiring, a lack of hiring in the 80s, and a shale oil downturn that has driven away Millennials, maybe for good."
The Great Crew Change has been discussed for more than a decade but until now a solution has eluded the industry. Gabe Pinkard of Energy Talent Solutions (a Millennial himself) has brought back one of the oldest hiring tricks in the book to attract Millennials:
I was lying in bed watching some vids (Videos) on the tube (YouTube), and I was wondering. Man, how am I going to afford the latest VR (Virtual Reality) headset? Then it hit me — money. People love money! Maybe if we give them more they will come to us. Genius, right?
So far the method has worked. Gabe, the newly self proclaimed "Brain of Da Biz", is now working on his own hiring book, How to Afford VR Goggles, and will be holding seminars worldwide later this year.
